Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of the Canvex virtual desktop platform. It supplements our Terms of Service. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or termination of your account.

Prohibited Activities

You may not use Canvex virtual desktops to:

Illegal Content & Activity

• Store, distribute, or produce illegal content of any kind
• Engage in child sexual abuse material (CSAM); reported to authorities immediately
• Infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
• Facilitate fraud, identity theft, or financial crimes

Network Abuse

• Launch denial-of-service (DoS/DDoS) attacks
• Port scanning, vulnerability scanning, or penetration testing of systems you don't own
• Sending spam, bulk unsolicited email, or phishing campaigns
• Operating open proxies, relays, or anonymizing services for third-party traffic. Running a personal VPN client to reach your own corporate network (the Canvex Tenant VPN feature) or using a personal privacy VPN to access the dashboard is fine
• Participating in botnets or command-and-control infrastructure

Resource Abuse

• Cryptocurrency mining (proof-of-work or proof-of-stake)
• Torrenting or peer-to-peer file sharing (BitTorrent, eDonkey, etc.)
• Running public-facing file hosting, CDN, or media streaming services
• Operating production web servers, databases, or SaaS applications (desktops are for end-user computing)
• Deliberately consuming excessive bandwidth or compute to degrade service for others

Harmful Content

• Distributing malware, viruses, ransomware, or exploit kits
• Hosting phishing pages or credential harvesting sites
• Adult, pornographic, or obscene content (storage or distribution)
• Content that promotes violence, terrorism, or hate speech

Platform Abuse

• Reselling, sublicensing, or sharing access to the Service without authorization
• Circumventing billing, usage limits, or security controls
• Attempting to access other customers' data or infrastructure
• Automated account creation or abuse of free trials
• Reverse-engineering, decompiling, or scraping the platform

Permitted Use

Canvex desktops are designed for:

• General office productivity (documents, email, web browsing)
• Software development and testing
• CAD, 3D modeling, and creative work
• Data analysis and business applications
• Remote access to a secure desktop environment
• Education and training
• Security research on your own systems with explicit authorization

Enforcement

We monitor for AUP violations through automated systems (e.g., abnormal resource consumption patterns) and abuse reports. We do not routinely inspect the contents of your desktops.

When a violation is identified:

• First offense (minor): email warning with 48 hours to resolve
• Repeat or serious violations: suspension pending review, with at least 24 hours' notice unless the violation is causing active harm
• Illegal activity (CSAM, fraud, attacks): immediate termination and referral to law enforcement

Automated-flag appeals. If your account is flagged by an automated system (e.g., a spike in outbound connection rate triggers a resource-abuse alert), you have a 7-day window from the email notice to provide context before any access-affecting action is taken. We aim to resolve false-positive appeals within 2 business days.

Suspended accounts may appeal by contacting abuse@canvex.io.

Reporting Abuse

To report a violation of this policy, contact abuse@canvex.io with details of the suspected abuse. We acknowledge reports within 5 business days. Investigation timelines vary by severity: active threats are triaged within hours, while policy-interpretation reports may take longer.

Changes

We may update this policy as new threats and use cases emerge. Changes take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance.
